Winter Skin Remedies
As the first winter’s breeze set in, I couldn’t help but wonder, is it just me or is everyone else also facing the dry skin problem? Have we become so used to the fast paced city life that we have forgotten how to slow down a bit and take care of our skin?
Here are some hassle free remedies to get that smooth and supple skin in winters without actually having to spend hours and hours in a beauty salon
1. ESSENTIAL OILS ARE ESSENTIAL
The idea of a hot bath on a cold winters night seems blissful but it is actually damaging to the skin, hot water tends to rip your skin off of its natural oils. If you cut down the bath time to 10 minutes tops and add a few drops of essential oils you can see the results almost immediately.
Use humidifiers in your homes and work places, as dry air makes the skin drier. The alternative of a humidifier is something as simple as a bowl of water on top of the radiators, you can also add a few drops of scented oils in the water and it will double as a room freshner.
3. OIL IT UP
In winters, oil is your best friend! I cannot press enough on the importance of oils. Substitute your body lotion for a nourishing body oil. Oils stay on longer and are generally warmer than body lotions.
4. EAT RIGHT
You are what you eat. A diet rich in walnuts, olive oil, avocado, etc. can do wonders to the skin. Staying hydrated and including omega-3 or omega-6 fatty acids to the diet is a must for that winter glow.
